Ya your right it's not available in the GSR in Canada. But since all the wiring is the same and someone has already done the how to on this, it won't be a problem. He even put in the part #'s you need. I had the par #'s check out here at the mitsu dealer in edmonton and they can order it for us. The lazy *** guy who sold me my EVO got me the wrong color of car so he is getting me the Nav for cost. I havn't herd back from him. I will get a nav unit but could be quite some time before i get it
Now here is the other thing 30g is a lot of room but i have a 30ipod with about 10g of music. I like some others like to have all the music they own on it. I tho would like to crack the dvd motion thing. Oh and the nav can rip music off any cd's whats stopping you from ghosting the HDD then trying to figure out if you can rip movies to it?? Someone programmed the nav unit, so that means someone could maybe add the option to the menu? But these are all hypothetical that i would like to check in the next few months

if someone in the US who alrady owns one could do this or TRY that would be cool. Or even if you copy all the HDD info send it to me i would liek to take a stab at it, cause it could be some time before i get mine
Ghost is definately the way to go. You can ghost the file system onto a bigger drive, and as long as Ghost recognizes the file system, it can expand it properly enough to avoid any problems. The only issue might be if the OS expects a certain size (tracks, blocks, whatever...), but I wouldn't think that to be the case. Also, there may be a limit on what the OS can address, but again, that's unlikely too. Anyone know what software/OS the Nav unit uses?
Good luck with this.

Cool, Ghost may even be able to tell you what kind of file system it sees. If it picks up ext3, or something of the sort, then that's a good indication that its linux.

Well, if you end up tinkering, it looks like the hard work has already been done. Take a browse of that one, and you should be good to go. Interesting that it is based off WindowsCE. Didn't see that one coming...

"Ever had one of those days where you wake up in the morning thinking you have a pretty good grasp on things...you went to college...flew for 7 years as an airline pilot...

Heheh. Everything in the electronic world appears confusing unless you have the background.
I like that quote though, it sums up lots of things.
Now that the HDKey is available, it's a LOT easier to do.
