RPM / Tacho signal ?

Has anybody found a good suitable place for tapping into a wire for RPM signal? I posted about 2 weeks ago, in another section and got no answer. I thought I would post here to get more exposure and hopefully find an answer. Anybody who has hooked up an AFC or AEM FIC surely has information on this. I would prefer a diagram of the wiring under the dash where is goes to the speedometer display console, but any thing would help. I need the wire inside the car to hook up the RPM signal for an EVC 6...

Thanks,
Brian

There is a tach signal you can tap into inside the car. Send me a PM, and I will give you the wiring diagram.

I need more friends like PDX. So helpful!

Turbo, how are you liking the EVC? Even without RPM, do you recommend it?

Wow, second dead end post I found where a PM was sent but now I'm left guessing which pinout is the RPM signal. Why not just post the info here? I would like to get it right off the ECU pinouts but couldn't find it listed at:

http://roadraceengineering.com/evox/...-ecuwiring.htm

I can do some trial and error or narrow it down by looking at the wiring harness leading to the RPM gauge on the dash, but that's more work than should be needed if someone already knows.

Chances are I will try pinout #4 which is "No. 1 Ignition Coil (Ignition Power Transistor)" since as long as it sees a proper voltage range it will be able to set idle, half redline, and near redline knock settings for a TurboXS Knocklite I'm installing.

I have to connect a defi advance zd to a good rpm source. Prior to make trials and errors, have someone tried to take the rpm signal from pin4?

there is a much easier way wih the CAN-VSS Converter from Fortin in Canada.
It delivers both: TACH & VSS

http://ifar.ca/en/download/3489/preview.html

I will use that for controlling Exhaust together with a Daytona Sensors NC-1

http://www.daytona-sensors.com/Nitrous_Controller.html

I have athread about this in the swiss EVO Forum but it is in German

http://evo-forum.ch/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=8259

for the Evo X you can take CAN from the Main Socket: Pin 90 = CAN high, Pin 91 = CAN low, Pin 10 is TPS ( Throttle Position )
so you have over CAN to VSS Adapter all you need for Valve controlled exhausts, nitro controlling stage 1 and 2, shiftlight or wathever you want to try.

Was wondering if you've had some resolution to this? Which wire did you attach the the Speed sense wire. Im going with pin#4 (#1 Ign. coil) for the T.A. signal. Thanks
