Replacing stock Rockford Fosgate woofer

Maybe it's just me, but the woofer seems to be of the lower grade Punch line. Does not deliver what I'd love to. So my question is did anyone try to replace it with a bigger size woofer, hopefully reusing the same enclosure?

Same as with previous "premium" Mitsu sound systems, if you want a bigger/better subwoofer, you're going to need to start fresh. New sub, new box, and new amp, then tie it in.

I agree. I just don't really want to mess with the head unit, or to ruin controls. Currently my bass is set to +1 and my sub is at +2/+3, which should give enough cushion for a bigger sub.
So basically if anyine tried replacing just the subwoofer, I'd appreciate your input on the models that would fit at least electronics wise.
