Anyone have the JDM double-din headunit kit? Metra kit sucks!

JDM is definitely the way to go! I got it today and the fit is perfect! You simply re-use the stock metal mounts which make the unit far more stable than the crappy plastic metra ones. I'll post some pics once there is light out.

I'm probably going to order the JDM kit from japanparts.com because my ****ty metra kit is pissing me off. The double-din headunit is too heavy for the kit, because metra had to design it so the headunit's weight was all on the plastic. And the fitment is horrible! (Yes I installed it 100% correct).

Hopefully the JDM kit allows the headunit to be mounted to brackets inside the dash, and than the faceplate pops over top of it. That would be perfect!
That's exactly how it fits.

I'm pretty sure there is light out, even in Riverside. Please let me know if the model number ^ is correct, and the price?

I wasn't able to get any pics today, too many meth labs exploding in the IE made it too cloudy But, seriously I'll try and get some ASAP. As far as the model number goes, I have no idea. I just ordered what they had on Japanparts.com. I paid about $217 shipped; be sure to get it on a day where the dollar is doing well against the yen!

I requested it from them back in April/May. They've only had it one their site for a few weeks.

Sorry, should have explained. I used the Metra kit because i customised 3x52mm Defi Racer gauges into 1 single din space, with the other din occupied by my headunit. I don't want to cut up the original dash kit, thats y i used the Metra.

Will post up some pics soon. I had the Metra cubic printed in carbon fiber design

And yes, the fitment of the Metra kinda sux!!!

I found a small problem with the JDM panel piece which is easily remedied. If you use the hazard button that comes with it you will get an airbag warning light. To fix this simply re-use your stock hazard light and the problem is solved.

Just giving you guys who ordered it a heads up so you don't have to take your dash apart again like I did.

Here are some reference pics:

JDM Hazard button (notice there is no lettering on it)

USDM hazard button (notice there is lettering on it) This is the button you need to use.
