Well my JDM kit came in the mail yesterday, so I managed to get everything installed today. Turned out great! The fit and finish of the Mitsubishi kit is 100% perfect.

Before with POS Metra kit:

After with JDM Mitsubishi kit:

Here is where you want to install the brackets on a double-din:

Here is a pic of the Pioneer BOLTED down inside the dash. No more free-floating on the Metra plastic bull****.

I am very happy with japanparts.com and the JDM double din headunit kit. I also have the JDM hazard flasher switch piece with no lettering if anyone is interested.

I'm not sure that I understand the complaints about Metra and "free floating plastic crap". I have the Metra kit temporarily and all I'm using is the face plate. You just use the stock mounting brackets just like you did with the JDM plate.

It's the same way you mounted it with your new plate--no issues, same way as factory.

you do know if you use the metal stock clips on the metra kit its the same as using the metal clips on the jdm one

It fits better than the Metra but it's actually an uglier design.

Fitment > Design

Unless the fitment is major then, Design > Fitment.

I agree but it's too bad these companies couldn't spend a bit more time on a decent looking aftermarket kit that looks decent. How could Metra put out a kit that has such big gaps? Don't they even test fit them? The fittiment is embaressing. The Scosche does fit better but I'm not sure why they decided to make the deck fit so deep in it and the big bulge-out doesn't match the rest of the interior.
