i just installed 6.5 boston acoustics s65's in all 4 doors... I had to cut with a jigsaw... i think the stock locations take the honda sized speakers, not standard 6.5's... .. they have a triangle shaped opening... but cutting it was no problem... put a bit of sound deadener in the door when your in there.. .it makes a huge difference... i used damplyfi pro.... cheaper than dynamat..

Have fun when the door rusts. It's way easier to buy/make some spacers.

listen, if upgrading your speakers use the stock plastic surround on the stock speaker as spacers to mount your speakers. just cut the foam around the cone of the speaker. mount new speaker done.

This is what I did. Works great without making mdf rings.

Bringing this one back.

I've got a '10 X GSR with no SSS. It sounds like I've got 6.5's all around but I'm hoping to upgrade to components up front. Is there an easy way to get the tweeters mounted?

Also planning on a new amp. Any threads out there on running one under the seat so I don't need to tear the whole car up?

And....my audio experience is really limited to head units. Am I asking for trouble by trying to install the amp myself? Batteries make me nervous.

the battery location in the back makes installation much more hard then if it was in the engine bay

How so, I figured it would be easier to run power wire and clearer sound due to not running long power wire next to RCAs

I have aftermarket tweeters in my RF system pods. Not sure how much they differ.

You should have built a spacer or used the factory speakers to build a mount to mount to the door. Cutting the door isn't the smartest idea, for a good number of long term reasons.

+10000

This is what i did on my 2008 es about 2 years ago, worked great and there is really no reason to keep the stock paper speakers around anyway, might as well put them to good use.
