CarPC?

Hi,everyone.
I'm planning to start my carpc project soon, but still have tons of questions after lots of reserch..

I'm planning to get :
intel D945GCLF2 mobo
seagate 2.5' 250GB or 160GB 7200rpm HD
kingston 2G pc5300 memory
monitor : ??
power supply: ???

other hardware that will implement OBD-II , GPS,FM radio ...

after reading so many reviews about scosche kit and mertra kit, I decide to get scosche kit.

1: but can anyone tell me, can a 8" touch screen monitor fit in the scosche kit???

2: also can anyone give me some advice on the touch screen, since the only product I know is Lilliput, Is it good? any other better choices??

3:there are so many smart car pc power supply out there . any good ones?

thank you thank you~~~

You don't need 2gigs, it will just make the resume slower. 1gig is more than enough for a carputer. Check Mo-Co-So.com for monitors and parts. Dont go cheap on the screen, its hard to see normal screens. get a transflective if you can afford it.

Get a solid state hard drive if you can. It will last longer with the vibration in the car.

thx I'm gonna get the transfelctuve screen 4 sure. but dun know which size do i go with?? 7" of 8". since I dun know how big screen can the scosche kit hold..

SSD is way too much $$, I rather save some money for a nice monitor for now, and update for a SSD later.

An 8" will work in it to. +1 on the SSD hard drive. Not just for longevity but for when you hit a bump at 80 mph a laptop HDD will skip. With that MB use a M4-ATX power supply. The M2 does not provide enough power on the 5v rail once you add several USB devices.

Yes it is dual core. It is using the Intel Atom 330 processor which is a dual core running at 1.6 Ghz.

All the Lilliput trasfective screens are 7".
You might want to use this kit to mount the screen behind the scosche kit:

Anyone know of a LCD mounting frame (7" or 8") or double DIN dash kit that has a slot for a cd/dvd input? I'm specing out my own DYI carputer, but I'd rather not put a separate head unit in the lower console.

You can get the Lilliput screens on eBay for WAY cheaper than mp3car.com. I got mine for like half. I was pretty skeptical about it being real, but it turned out to be and it worked great. (They're all made in China).

Kick ***! I've been looking for something to do this. Thanks!

/Not entirely sure yet if I wanna go with a Lilliput monitor, or one of these though: http://www.gooddeals18.com/c=GLtP3ma...reen__VGA.html

There's quite a commotion going on about them here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...lcd-215-a.html (thread started about a 10.4", but they talk about the 8" too.)
