Sony XAV-W1 Install w/JDM Dash Kit, Steering Wheel Controls and 2010 Console

Installation on the entire job was very easy and I'm very happy with the results. My EVO X MR came with the base 140 watt sound system so I had to add the steering wheel controls as per the excellent how to by Antics22 (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...evo-x-gsr.html). To get the steering wheel controls to work with the Sony deck I installed a PAC SWI-PS which was very simple to install and configure and works like a charm. I also installed the Sony ipod and Sirius interface for the deck as they are not built in. I'm fairly pleased with the outcome so far as sound even with the stock speakers is noticeably improved and the XAV-W1 has the clearest, most beautiful LCD display I've seen on a double DIN unit (although you can't tell from my pics) as well it's one of the few decks that play SACD which is nice if you happen to own some (I do). DVD playback is stellar and there are lots of screen options as I have some .jpegs install that the unit cycles through like my Mac does with wallpapers. One negative is that there is no NAV or Bluetooth available but really it's reflected in the $480 price I paid for the unit.

Also as you can see I used the JDM Dash kit which IMO is by far the best kit for these cars to date and the 2010 console which I purchased from RussellM at MitsubishiParts.Net at this thread; https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...ts-w-lids.html. I also purchased the AUX inputs that fit in the cubby and fabricated an RCA cable so I could connect to the Sony deck RCA inputs. The whole thing cost me over $1000 but now I feel that the interior of the car looks like what you would expect of a car in the MR price range.

Is the black dash trim different too? It looks different than the hash/carbon look one on the 2008 Evo.

I just noticed that. Maybe it's canadien specific? But it looks good.

That's the standard MR black trim. Same as the US MR's in fact the only difference is that mine has heated seats and had sunroof as an option.

On an aftermarket deck or stock? Honestly I'm not sure if the base CD player will work with steering wheel controls. The steering wheel control assy, AWC switch with bezel and blanks and PAC controller probably ran up to $200 but I bought all the parts from the US. Canadian dealers usually charge more than twice what US dealers do so you're better off ordering the parts from the US even with duty and exchange.

How hard was it to get the Dash kit? Every forum I see with the guy selling they seem to have gone out of business or stopped making.
