JDM NAV issue

Hey everyone

My X is a JDM model and I've got the navigation package. My issue is that all the text on the screen is in Japanese. Is there a fix for this? If I change the nav unit to a US model will this be fixed?

Also, intermittently I'm hearing a female voice saying something in Japanese and it drives me crazy. Can anyone tell me if this happens in the US models?

unfortunatley its not as simple as changing language settings. you need to change the entire nav unit out. no software can fix it either.

thought so...

I would change the nav out then, however are there any features or advantages of keeping the Rockford / Mitsubishi nav that are built in to the system. Ones I will not get with another brand of nav of instance?

You will not be able to change the vehicle settings like one like setting the FAST key to open all doors instead of one... alarm settings, auto wiper functionaliy etc.

If you disable the GPS you'll be able to play videos from your iPod and the japanese chat will stop.
Cut the red/green wire as shown in the attached picture.

Best thing is to replace the unit with something else and get a Trinidad GPS separately.
I just got a JVC KW-AVX 720 from Amazon and it looks fine.

I would not want to loose all of the stock functionality of the Rockford unit. I will opt for getting a US nav.

I live in San F'do.
