Question about Rockford NAV antenna
Question about Rockford NAV antenna
I'm in the process of upgrading my head unit. I was wondering if the stock rockford nav antenna uses the normal Nav antenna connection? Reason why is that aftermarket head units have thier own antenna (which looks like a little box) that has to be mounted on top of the dash. If I could use the stock nav antenna then I wouldnt have to figure out how to mount the nav antenna on the top of the dash (and not have what looks like a big wart on my dash).
Also, if the connector isn't standard, could I do some splicing?
Thanks

Pretty sure the stock one wont work since its part of the harness and not a single line. I just installed a Pioneer Z110BT and placed the Nav antenna on top of the unit itself, inside the dash. It works fine right below the dash so you don't have the ugly one sticking out.
Jwilliams, I think you're confused. The stock antenna is not part of the wiring harness - it is separate from the rest of them.
Spoonie, what you'll want to do is remove the antenna and mounting bracket from the underside of the dash, remove the two screws holding the stock antenna to the bracket, and re-use that bracket to mount your aftermarket antenna. This will allow you to hide the antenna in the stock location. The down side to this is that if you are selling the stock unit, the next person is SOL, and has to figure out a mounting solution on their own.
