carPuter or CarPC

Okay I was looking at one of those Hong Kong OEM replacements. but I think I can get alot more functionality and tailored capabilities going the route of a CarPC. currently i'm looking at mounting the screen. using the Scousche double-din is the easiest but it only allows for a 7" (w/o dremmeling)

i'm curious if anyone knows the dimensions of the stock MMCS uh.. bracket, i guess, w/ the nav portion removed.

yeah I stumbled on that one too. my concern is outdated technology. especially when we're talking computers. 1-2 year old tech is already pretty outdated. usually there's faster/cheaper/more efficient ways. but that was a good log.

I think that if you build a decent enough carputer then you wont have to worry about upgrading. I'm looking into building one right now with a i3 processor. For no more than what the car PC will be used for you will be fine, the worst case I see happening as far as out dated is having to upgrade whatever front software you use like centrafuse or "roadrunner"
