Factory Remote Start - Installed!

No one seemed to know if the factory remote start kit would work, most said no when asked. well i figured i take a chance & give it a try. I installed the factory remote start kit (part# MZ360272EX) on my MR-T w/ fast key today and it works flawlessly! Very easy install actually.

Pros: simple install, no wire cutting, just plugs right in.
Cons: It's not as fancy as after-market kits. The way it works is when a door is opened, the car shuts off. So when you get into it you have to restart it. would have been nice to keep the car running, just turn the key knob and go. There is another key fob to carry.

So for all those wondering if it will work. It should on all 2010's. Check your nav for settings for factory remote start & if your ETACS-ECU (open the cuby hole next to your left knee on the driver side) has the 4 pin connector as shown in the pic, you should be good to go!

Will a turbo timer preset to 10-20-30 seconds (however long you think you would need) work out to allow the vehicle to stay running after the door is shut long enough to turn the key knob and get going? Or is there some issue that I fail to see?

actually there are settings on the factory remote start to shut off after 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes. no additional turbo timer needed

No, I mean use the turbo timer to defeat the issue of having the car shut off when you close the door upon entry. Would that work?

Hmmm. Ok. I was hoping that might be a remedy to the issue of having to restart the engine upon entry. Still, its only a minor inconvenience. Autostart is a sweet feature. I may have it one of my vehicles some day.

ah cool, I'll think about it! It sucks that it turns off as soon as the door opens though! Since you have a 2010, you wouldn't be able to get it out of park without the Smart key in range anyways! It would be nice to have on cold or hot summer days

I think for the price I'd rather just go with an aftermarket alarm while I'm at it and get a legit remote start from like Viper. However this is a cool touch if someone wants to stay OEM.
