I wanted to know if anyone had any luck with being able to keep the steering wheel controls with a carpc?

You could. It all depends how you have your sound setup. The best way is to use the PAC SWI-PS adapter and wire it into your harness.. then use a CarPC screen that has an actual amp & harness that can utilize it (assuming you aren't tapping into the Rockford system. I recommend this screen: http://revo-sys.com/65_inch_double_d...pc_monitor.php

Well see that where the funs comes in cause for right now I am planning on using the factory amp. I have looked at the PAC adapter but wasn't sure if it would work. I was planning on using the following setup:

intel DH57JG board
M4 psu
Sata dvd drive for laptop
Centrafuse front end

Biggest things are keeping the factory steering wheel controls right now. Ideas ?

If you're going straight into the factory amp without going into the SWI-PS adapter first, I don't think that will work because it is already past the point where the volume is controlled.

By past that point what do you mean? what am i missing, sorry. I've looked at the pac and axxess modules but will they recognize the pc, as i have read that the modules do recognize sony pioneer etc. Just point me in the right direction and perhaps the easiest path?

Thanks Wire

Input to your amp is a function of the volume output of the CarPC.. Tell me, how would you get the PAC SWI-PS adapter to control your volume within your operating system? You can't.. that's why you need a headunit screen with a built in amp and wiring harness you can tap into.

Thats what im trying to figure out...if you took rca cables and ran splitters from the back of the motherboard and spliced them and then soldered the ends to the correct wires on the harness for front rear speakers etc. Would this work?

I believe the harness needs an amplified signal.. the signal coming out of the PC is just enough for headphones, or the sensitivity of an amp input. But.. go ahead and try it and report back your findings for us.

hmm thats a thought. I have seen some posts where people have used the AUX port and just stuck the factory unit behind the HVAC, but don't see if you had 5.1 channel audio how this would work?

got ya, so the intel board has Intel High Definition Audio (8 channels), so I'm guessing just use the front and rear channels?
