OEM Nav not responding.
Around a month after having aftermarket speakers/conti dws installed, my navigation started acting really strange. It began showing me off course, and to this day (four months later due to a busy work schedule) it is completely off. For instance, I live in NJ and it shows my location in upstate NY.
I brought the car back to the audio installer whom after looking it over, stated that
"it seems as though the gps needs to be recalibrated". I attempted to call Mitsubishi about it, but couldn't get there to have them look it over. I researched the web like a madman, tried the "set+navi" option and nothing works.
My question is, have any of you had this happen and what can it be? My network connection under the advanced menu states the gps receiver as being n/a. Could it simply be disconnected? I admittedly do not like my dealer and I'm at the crossroads of buying an aftermarket nav at this point.
I honestly don't have much experience with the car and would prefer someone proficient in this area take a look/fix it.

Thanks for the response whitestar. Yeah I think at this point I may just have to take it to Mitsubishi and have them look at it.
I'd love an aftermarket radio, however if I could put that money into a tbe, I'd be much happier.

take off both battery cables, zip tie them together for 10 mins (off and away from the battery), then put them back on. your system will go back to default settings but should in theory be a basic reset of your car. it's essentially like pulling the battery out of your phone and doing a hard reset. zip tie-ing them together lets all the residual charge in your car cycle itself out
If is shows the GPS receiver as N/A, you should pull the head unit and ensure that the antenna is properly connected... Perhaps when your installer was working back there he didn't reconnect it well, and it has a marginal connection. Should only take you 10 minutes to get back there, check, and put your dash back together.
Thanks for the tips everyone. I went down to my garage, washed the car and started thinking over what I should do.
I finally decided that I'm going to purchase a aftermarket nav with more POI's/functionality (my nav doesnt have Sirius, which I sorely miss from my short time with a Mazdaspeed 3). Currently looking into the new Clarion NX-501. I figure the system as a whole would sound better as well, since I already have everything else done audio-wise.
I'm going to hold off modding for around this time next year.
If I choose to sell my OEM nav, I'll let you all know here.

So I brought the car back to the dealer I purchased the Evo from, who basically told me that something the audio installer did is messing with the GPS signal(all the installer did was replace the stock speakers and added 2 amps). When I told him the GPS receiver stated N/A on the service page of the stock head unit, he looked at me like I had 4 heads and said "yeah....you're going to have to bring it back to the audio installer because something they did is messing with the signal". I was literally like w t f.
Two days later I received a survey call for the service, and I ripped into them. I have since gotten two calls back from the dealer to which I have not returned because they've disgusted me since day two of my purchase (another thread). The dude I dealt with for the GPS was the same *** trying to tell me that the MR BBS rims are 3 grand a piece (mind you, I'm 38 years old..not some gullible teen)! Tonight while I was watching TV, Mitsubishi North America called me directly and was concerned with my displeasure. Tomorrow I am going to follow up with them and let them now how I'm being treated like I purchased a used corolla with 100k on it.
I have no problem paying them for their work (dealer), but it seemed to me like they didn't even attempt to pinpoint the issue even after I explained it to them in plain English. Once they saw aftermarket speakers installed, they must have figured it wasn't their problem so they weren't going to bother. This is the treatment after purchasing a 37 thousand dollar car? I'm livid...I am being pointed to the dealer and back to the audio installer ... in two seconds I'm going to whip out a dremel and cut my way to a new nav unit (j/k)!
