I'm running a Beltronics STi Driver. So far it has not let me down. The reason I picked this dectector is the outer case is made of magnesium making it invisible through Virginia where radar dectectors are illegal. Works great and I highly recommend it!

i run the escort 9500ix.... it tells me where photo cameras, red light cameras, speedtraps. it is gps enabled. if you pass by the same spot 3x and the decttor goes off it automatically stores that spot so if next time you pass and it goes off it is a cop. it self learns. if you pass by something, say walgreens or the like, it sets off the detector. if you know that is the source for the alarm, you can manually store the position and never hear from it again. but it dies cost $499. Very much worth every penny. Oh, you can also set it up for traffic allerts like those huge safty road signs, also picks up ambulances sometimes.

Either V1 or passport 8500 x50. If I had to do it all over again I would of got the V1 hidden install. I have a Passport qi45 witch is basically a 8500 passport just integrated. V1 is the best on the market epically if you can afford the laser jammers they work wonders if cops in your area use laser

Have you considered using the search button at the top of the thread listing? It's not like there is any new development in radar detectors since the last thread asking the same thing from two weeks ago...

Valentine would obviously be the best, passport might be a little more affordable and does a good job. To be honest I bought a 100 dollar cobra at best buy two years ago and it has ALWAYS picked up a cop if he was shooting. I've never had a ticket, of course I don't speed a lot unless I'm rolling someone on the highway, too late if a cop sees me doing that lol.

9500ix here as well. Mine picks up radar way before I could actually get tagged, especially in town. Highway seems to go off at least a mile ahead so plenty of time to adjust speed. The ability to use GPS to locate false positives and cameras is really cool too.

^X2 Except my v1 is mounted up by the head liner next to the rear view mirror and my display is mounted on top of my steering wheel.

I use the Escort Passport 8500 x50 (red). I have owned the unit for over 4 years and it is still top in it's class. You can't really beat its performance for $299 (I think the price may have actually gone up over the years). Either way, the Red & Blue versions are exactly the same (except for the color of the LEDs).

I don't see much of a benefit to knowing if a cop is in front or behind you (valentine). If the radar detector goes off & you're getting closer to the signal, you're going to slow down either way, right? The Passport 8500 has 360degree detection too.. who cares if you can see the direction the signal is coming from. If you drive with the radar detector enough (and are aware of your surroundings when you drive), you'll be pretty accurate at figuring that out on your own..

If you want to go up in class (and price), I'd go with the 9500xi since it has gps, false detection memory and a whole slew of other amazing features (and I think that costs around $500).

I have the Escort 9500ci and I love it. Costs a small fortune but I think it's well worth it.

Valentine 1. It's one of the most sensitive out there and has the arrows, very helpful. I'll give a quick example. I was on this deserted stretch of highway going through the mountains at like midnight. As I'm approaching an onramp, my V1 goes off Ka band high strength dead ahead. I immediately slow down to PSL and as I pass the onramp, I notice a car getting on the road. The radar direction immediately switched over to the rear, signaling that the bogey was behind me. The cop followed me until the next exit and got off. I resumed my original speed. Approximately 10 min later, my V1 goes off again, I slow down to PSL and the directional once again changes from front to side to rear as I pass a huge tree. There was a cop hiding behind the tree. I'm guessing the first cop called ahead to have someone wait there because this was midnight and the road probably had a car per hour if not less go by. Now if there had been a K/X somewhere in the mix or multiple targets, I would've been able to tell which ones were the junk (X usually) and what direction they were coming from. It's good to know cause then if I round the corner, I can speed back up knowing the cop is behind me or stay slow knowing there's another cop ahead of me.

Now... I gotta tell you, the best thing would be to get a laser jammer AND a radar detector. Because most of the larger depts now have laser and it is near-impossible to detect laser ahead of time and beat it unless you have a jammer.
