TomTom sends speed data to police...

Why I won't buy a TomTom product...

The sat-navs in TomTom's Live range all feature built-in 3G data cards, which feed location and route information back to a central server, which allows TomTom to create a map of congestion hotspots. It's now emerged that this data, however, along with a user's speed, is being made available to local governments and authorities.

tomtom blows

pretty much any smartphone has a gps these days, why bother with another display in my car? useless

tomtom's trying to make traffic better? better driving? lol, are they retarded? that'll never happen.

streets were built for 1000 cars (persay) now there's 2000 cars driving. A tomtom isn't gonna solve ****. And if they feed you alternate route that wont be jammed.... well if everyone TOMTOM user takes that route... guess what, its ALSO jammed...

The bad thing about phones with smart phone access is, eventually a law can be passed, and the way things are going, its possible. They may even give you speeding tickets through your phone bill. It sounds outrageous but possible.

If i recall google uses GPS data on phones to determine live traffic for the maps. They could be sharing the same info with law enforcement eventually.

If you think that Tom Tom is out of their bounds with this crap then go to their youtube page and flame them. Also post negative comments on their apology video.

I did. Only way for people to see the truth.
