Aux in Mounted! Not working right!

Aux in Mounted! Not working right!
Hi.
I have a gsr with the basic stereo unit.
Bought a Mitsubishi aux in cable, and after a couple of hours of dismantling ( and assembly) of the dash everything was back together with a 3.5 stereo plug in glovebox.
BUT! It doesn't work! Can't find a button for it.. So I taught that it would switch on signal in, but no such luck!
Does anyone have an idea what to do?
Have I wasted 100$?
Dosent my head unit support this?
