Possible to dim prosport boost gauge?
Possible to dim prosport boost gauge?
I installed an electronic prosport boost gauge yesterday. The gauge is very bright, like too bright. Is there any way to make it so the gauge dims? If I hook the constant 12v power to one of the wires that controls dimming would that result in my gauge dimming as well? I wonder if the decreased voltage might mess with the gauge's operation.
Did you wire it up for white/color change?
Other than that, maybe add some light window tint to darken it slightly.
Black –Ground
Red - 12v ign. power-meaning power when the ignition is on.
White- 12v ign. power
Orange-Headlight switch.
Green - Sender
The above/below wiring will result in white during the day and color (amber or Green) at night.

Only the Halo series gauges from Prosport are dimable.. The others are not. The gauges are lit by LEDs, & they won't dim like a conventional filament lightbulb used in the stock cluster/heater/etc...
U might look into getting some tint film to put over the gauge face to turn down the brightness. Yes, it will be not be as bright during the day, but at least you'll be able to see at night.

^^ Yeah, I would at least try the color at night / white during the day wiring option.. it might be a little less harsh at night that way.
Don't know where you can buy just a small amount of tint. I've used this static-cling tint to dim LEDs on TVs, but it might be a little too dark for gauges..

Or just look for a window tint guy in your area, and get a quote.
