question on FAST key security level

Does the FAST key system make it easier for the car to get stolen?

I'm currently deployed and the wife is rocking the evo til her car gets out of the shop and the parking garage where she work isn't the safest place. I just don't want to get any bad news in the middle of my "business" trip

I have the fast-key and the alarm that comes with the car but I don't just rely on that...

I use the Club and the Tire Claw

I plan on buying Lo-Jack sometime this year.

And why would the fast-key make it easier for someone to steal your car?

just the whole electronic everything i guess....haha after thinking about it it might make it a little harder since it won't even start without the right signal from the FOB... it's almost the end of my tour and everyone knows bad news always comes up near the end of the deployment...

I've been researching for an add on system to piggy back off of the oem FAST system

The new rave for keyless entry vehicles has hit hard. Basically the keyless entry FOB systems have a horrible security model. Instead of a rotating challenge (i.e. car asking "what's 2+2 and encrypt answer with encryption key") the system repeating the encryption key. This model is vulnerable to a replay attack. Basically someone with a listening device can capture the key FOB from an undefined distance to a station near the vehicle. Bingo. Car opens and starts no problem. Bye bye Evo & my two nissans

I should have mentioned that this takes a reasonable amount of dedication to work without exception. Your run of the mill thieves won't have this could of equipment readily available. Either way no security system is perfect. If someone really wants your Evo. It's theirs. Just remember your right to bear arms.

Any of you have Lo-Jack or have ever used Lo-Jack? You have a 90% chance of getting your car back.

I wonder if there is another car GPS locator you can use? It may not be linked with police cruisers but you can locate it on your own and notify the police of its location. Better than nothing I suppose

One of my buddy showed me this http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ck-Your-Car-!! Have anyone tried this? definately thinking about giving it a shot when i get home in a few months

P.S. for those who don't feel like clicking on the link. It pretty much show you how to turn a cheap boost mobile pre-paid into a GPS tracker for almost anything.
