If that doesn't fix my problem I'm going to then just do the aftermarket amp swap.

Thoughts?
buy a ground loop isolator, probably get the same result, or try putting a bigger ground wire from the battery to the chassis

Okay so after trying the idea of regroup ding it it's still cutti out. The static is still ther as well, albeit not nearly as bad as it was before. So by my best guess its got to be the amp that is the problem. I'm thinking I might just go the route of replacing the amp with an aftermarket one. If that doesn't work then I'm going to replace the head unit as well and just run a whole new wiring set I guess.

I'm really at a loss for what to do other than the current choruses of action I'm already on. I figure if it isn't fixed by a new amp then a new head unit will definitely fix the problem because if. Take it to a stereo place for them to install it they will most likely run new wiring and whatnot anyways.

Ideas? This is starting to really get to me.

Okay so my previous statement is now wrong, apparently regrounding the amp didn't fix anything at all. I still have the constant static. My next step is going to be to ground out the engine bay. From what I have read I need to run a ground from the head, A/C, alternator, bottom of the block, intake, and ECU. Does this sound right?

If that doesn't fix it then on to a new amp and if that doesn't fix it then a new head unit or just selling the car altogether.

I'm going to Go ahead and do the home grounding kit idea. I'll post a how t when I get done with it, hopefully that fixes my problem once and for all. This is really starting to get annoying.

My plan is to replace the neg battery terminal and replace the stock ground then ground the alternator, head between cylinders 2 & 3, and the bottom of the block.

I wound up doing the aftermarket amp swap like Zeroflux did and it cleared up the issue of the static and amp cutting out. However, that wasn't without its own group of new twists. Now whenever I turn my HU up loud the aftermarket amp will go into protect mode. After discussing it with a buddy and hunting and reading more into it the fix is replacing the head unit. The stock RF HU is Beverly underpowered to run straight to an amp. It only provides 17w, so now im looking at touch screen HUs with RCA pre amp outs. I was going to buy a Jensen VM9224BT touch dvd HU and throw the nav upgrade on it later but unforeseen circumstances have caused me to hold off on this, aka having to buy a new tire

That said, its all good, I have a radio for the time being and can live with not turning it up till I have the money to buy a better HU. Now its just a matter of figuring out where I'm going to remount the amp in the trunk and wiring it all up.

In order to help, we need to know your setup exactly

Are you using an aftermarket amp? Factory headunit? Are you using the Metra adapter?

It's not the headunit that's the problem. If you have the speaker wires hooked to the hi level input of the amplifier, it's overloading the voltage because voltage increases wiht volume when it's setup that way. Replaced the unit won't help.

Please post your full setup, include your OEM parts, aftermarket parts, any adapters, and how you connected them and I can help.

on related news, I just wired in an MTX amp for my mids and highs, put Soundstream components all the way around, MTX sub amp and Alpine sub. Kenwood nav headunit. Sounds great!

No change from before. Rf head, Sony amp, rf speakers. I think I might have it figured out though, I was pressed for tme when I did the swap and ran the stock power wires to a connector and then 8 g. To te amp and I think it came out of the connector, I need to run a proper power anyways so this is incentive.

No, I have the line out from the HU spliced to RCA plugs and run into the amp. Im not too worried though I plan on replacing the HU in the next few days anyways. That should fix a lot of problems.

well yeah! you had high voltage speaker wire ran into low voltage RCA inputs

you're lucky you didn't fry your amp dude. If you're going to do that, you need a hi-lo converter, it's only 10 bucks
