Finished up my audio system over the weekend

I am not an audiophile by any means. However, my 2011 GSR did not come with the RF system and the stock audio quality is lacking in both the bottom and top end.

JVC KW-AVX840 7" Double-DIN Multimedia Receiver
Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface
Scosche Dash Kit
Rockford Fosgate P300-1 mono amp (300w RMS @ 2 OHM)
Wicked CAS sub enclosure
Pioneer 10" 4 OHM DVC sub (wired for 2 OHM)
Kenwood KFC-P709PS 6.5" component speakers (front)

Im actually on my 3rd subwoofer at the moment. The first one fell victim to my wife's tripod. Those go in the backseat from now on. The replacement I purchased was a 2 OHM DVC sub. Thanks to this purchase, I got a good crash course on how OHM ratings work. The extra power was nice, but the amp was not 1 OHM stable. I considered replacing the amp, but 1 OHM amps are inexpensive and Im a value-oriented kind of guy.

The rear speakers are stock. At this point I do not have any plans to change them out as Im happy with where Im at. I have more bass than I can tolerate and the highs from the new tweeters are great although not outstanding. At $129, the Kenwoods are good enough for me. My previous S2000 had Infinity reference components in them that were really stellar. I just dont think I really appreciated the increase in clarity though, so these are just fine.

All of this installation is already documented in other threads, so I just took some general photos and did not do any sort of a technical write-up. Given my meager audio knowledge, I probably shouldnt be telling anyone how to do this stuff anyways.

This was the first system I ever installed 100% on my own. I made plenty of minor mistakes. The one that bugs me the most is mounting the amp too low in the back. Originally, it was so low that the spare tire wouldnt even go back in. I raised it up enough that the holes I drilled for wire routing still worked and the spare would fit. As it stands, the fuse is still under the carpeting. That was supposed to be exposed.

For the door speakers, I was able to mount everything in the stock locations. The new tweeters fit into the stock tweeter pods, albeit just barely. Shaving out a little material and epoxying them in place might have been a better idea. If they shake lose, Ill try that. I didnt like destroying the stock 6.5" (or whatever size they are) but reusing the mounting rings was really easy.

The door speakers are still using the stock wiring and powered by the deck itself without an additional amplifier. I figured I would start there and if the sound wasnt good enough or not loud enough, Id add an amp and re-wire them. Not going to do it though, they sound great as is.

Not the greatest system in the world, but I think its a good budget build. The only place I really splurged was on the sub box. My 99 GSX had a ginormous box in the middle of the trunk that really took up a lot of space.

Never again. Having the sub out of the way so I can actually use the trunk was my only real concern. Must be getting older.
