Question Aftermarket Alarm w/ FAST system

Hello EVOM,

As you can see, im new to the community. I recently switched over from Honda/Acura (TSX) to the evo (dream). I was wondering if anyone has done an Alarm/Remote Start in the Evo with the FAST system.

Are there any complications with doing this? I haven't have the chance to go to an Audio/security shop to see if they are able to do this. I just wanted to see if this would be a good option or bad before i go ahead and shoot money down the drain
any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Got mine done with no problems whatsoever. The only minor drawback is that you have to carry around two key fobs - the new alarm/remote start fob and your factory FAST key. There is no way (as of yet) to be able to actually drive off with your car (after remote starting it) unless the FAST key is in the vehicle. The car will still look for the signal from the FAST key, otherwise it'll just shut off. Hope that makes sense!

I just had my alarm system with smart start uninstalled on my 08 non-fast system the other day to install on my 10 Evo w/FAST and was told by the installer there wouldnt be any problems at all.

i just got my Compustar 9000 installed on my '08 MR with FAST without the remote start though, but everything is great, the shop even made it so that my OEM fob can arm and disarm the alarm, the handle touch sensors disarm the alarm, and the handle push buttons arm the alarm.

Thanks for throwing that out there, I didn't think about the touch sensors.

Thanks for the info guys. I just put in a Clifford 570.4x System in and love it. I can start the car/arm/disarm from a mile away. Plus I can drive off with out restarting the car as long as i dont press the brakes.

it does suck that i have to carry 2 FOB's, but it pays off. Good security w/ remote start > 2 FOB's

I Plan on getting the Directed 516L voice module in the near future for fun.

Same problem I have with the 2 FOBs. Supposedly iDataLink may come out with a firmware update in the future that should eliminate the use of the stock FOB, but I'm not holding my breath for that one

That would be nice. But like you said, no breath holding here

OR there's also the option to get the Directed Smart Start system. Eliminates your aftermarket fob if you have an Android or an iPhone. You could pretty much start your car anywhere

Anyone use the directed electronics where u can start ur car with ur phone like the one above ^? I wanted to get that but I don't want to lose the fast key function. That way, u only have one fob and everything else is on the phone.

check with your local installer. i'm sure it's not much different than an normal installation. I kept all my f.a.s.t function with a Compustar set up

Can you guys add a bit more info about the system you're using and any features you lost/retained. Also, what, if any, interface moduals were required and maybe a ballpark price you paid? I have the same FASTkey system in the Outlander Sport and am looking for some direction. I don't want to lose any FASTkey functions or have to restart the car upon door entry.
