Aftermarket Alarm w/ FAST system
Can you guys add a bit more info about the system you're using and any features you lost/retained. Also, what, if any, interface moduals were required and maybe a ballpark price you paid? I have the same FASTkey system in the Outlander Sport and am looking for some direction. I don't want to lose any FASTkey functions or have to restart the car upon door entry.
The reason I like the fast key is the fact that I don't have to dig it out of my pocket. If the aftermarket alarm can retain everything that I do now, it would be great. I like the DEI with the phone functions since that way I would only have to bring one fob and I bring my phone with me everywhere anyway so it's nothing extra. But if I have to bring an extra fob from the aftermarket alarm, that's no bueno.
I have the Python 2-way 574 model. Everything is retained, albeit the stock fob really isn't used (except you still need to carry it around with you because of the chip inside it that's necessary to keep the car running after remote starting it). There is a module called the iDataLink that was also installed to retain all of the stock FASTkey settings like the push button trunk opener, but again, you really won't need to push FASTkey buttons on the car since the new key fob already has the lock/unlock buttons as well as the trunk release.
Yes, it still retains it, but it's kind of pointless to use. When remote starting the vehicle the alarm is still on and the doors are locked. If you don't use the Python fob to unlock the car, the alarm will go off when you attempt to use the button on the door handle.
