I think my MMCS ipod died

Today I took a 3 hour road trip and I couldn't get the MMCS to load my ipod (after waiting over an hour). Previously it loaded in about 2-3 minutes.

Taking it to the dealer Monday.

Any suggestions for things to try?

From what I've read and learned on forums in the past, the unit remembers the past 3 USB devices that were plugged in.

Here is something you can try, that worked for me. You will need 3 different devices each with at least one song on it that is over 30 seconds in length. I ended up purchasing 3 cheap (all different brands) 2 GB USB flash drives. On each one, I put one MP3 file that was at least over 30 seconds long. I would then plug one drive into the USB port in the car and then let it play the first 30 seconds of the song. After 30 seconds, I would unplug that drive and then plug in the next and let if play 30 seconds. Finally, I would unplug that drive and plug in the last one and let if also play 30 seconds. After this, try plugging your iPod back in. It should act as if the iPod is being connected for the very first time, which also means that the initial loading time may be longer than you were used to. I never came across any other tips or tricks in regards to this. Hopefully this can help you out.

One other suggestion for something to try if you haven't already, resetting your iPod: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320

Fixed - I used 3 USB flash drives (I tried 2, and the Ipod being the 3rd). I just realized I was supposed to use 3 devices not including my ipod. That got it read my ipod again. God what a horrible system this MMCS is.

Glad to hear you're up and running again.

I wouldn't blame the MMCS but I would certainly agree with you in saying that the USB/FUSE system isn't that great as I have no problems with Bluetooth audio streaming, aux in, CDs/DVDs, etc.

I keep on hoping that the performance issues with USB/FUSE can be resolved with a update/patch but since you mentioned you are running FUSE v11.0 and you're still having issues, it's not looking promising unfortunately.
