Hi,

I really like the FUSE /steering wheel controls. I have my eye on the top of the line Kenwood nav unit. Can I keep the FUSE/steering wheel controls functional if I go aftermarket head unit?

While I'm not positive, I don't think you'd be able to keep the FUSE system working. As for steering wheel controls, you should be able to keep them working.

If you currently have the Rockford Fosgate system and you planned on keeping the speakers and amp working, you would need this adapter:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120MITO...86#details-tab or http://www.amazon.com/Interface-MITO-02-Mitsubishi-Outlander-2007-2008/dp/B00200K1WK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348838033&sr=8-1&keywords=MITO-02

If you don't have the Rockford Fosgate system, here is the harness used to connect the new head unit:

From what I've read on the forums, if you have the Rockford Fosgate system and were going with an aftermarket head unit, you'd be better off replacing everything.

If you were looking into keeping the steering wheel audio controls working, I'd recommend looking into the following adapters:
http://www.crutchfield.com/g_118900/...s.html?tp=3405

http://www.amazon.com/Metra-ASWC-Universal-Steering-Interface/dp/B0039H2W66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348838308&sr=8-1&keywords=120ASWC or http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120ASWC...C.html?tp=3405

http://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-RC-Steering-Control-Interface/dp/B004HKBY8G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348838448&sr=8-1&keywords=PAC+SWI-RC or http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541SWIR...C.html?tp=3405

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSM...W.html?tp=3405

Here is the speaker wiring harness for the front and rear doors:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207103...s.html?tp=3097 or http://www.amazon.com/Metra-72-8104-Speaker-Connector-Vehicles/dp/B0002BBP7Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348838593&sr=8-1&keywords=12071035L

I'm not sure if this device is compatible, but if it is, it may keep Fuse working along with your steering wheel controsl:
