Can I keep factory Bluetooth on my 2010?
I have a 2010 evo x with the SSS package. I want to change the head unit out to something with a real iPod control, but I use the steering wheel mounted controls alot. My question is can I keep Bluetooth if head unit is changed or at least have new head units Bluetooth controled by the steering wheel controls? Any info is appreciated!

If the new unit does not have bluetooth/hands-free you're sotl.
I thought I read that the bluetooth system is independent from the stereo. Meaning if you have a aftermarket head unit without bluetooth you can still use the factory bluetooth. Anybody know for sure?
The bluetooth is independent of the stereo. Since you have the SSS kit, are you planning on using the MITO-02 and keep using the built in amplifier? If you do this you will be able to continue using the factory BT, but I think you might end up having issues with the steering wheel controls if you want to use them with the new head unit.
When we were installing mine, and before I figured out we had to unhook the BT module, we would hit one of the stereo control buttons on the wheel (track up, I think), and it would key off something in the BT module when the PAC was hooked up... I think your best bet would be to find a head unit with BT integration, and use it all from there, disconnecting the BT module wiring harness.
If you choose to try to use the factory BT with a different head unit and the steering wheel interface, please do let us know how it works out, and if you have to jump through any hoops to make it work.

I know this is late, but I just wanted to add something real quick...
I have the factory bluetooth as well as a pioneer d3. When you get a phone call, it looks like it cuts the power to the head unit. When it restarts, you have to clear that stupid warning screen. I'll probably upgrade soon, when I do, I'm going to add the radio bluetooth...
It's not a huge deal, but I just wanted to let you guys know.

I just put a clarion head unit in and the factory blue tooth will not work. I have blue tooth on the head unit so it works through that but those button on the steering wheel do not work. I have a pac switch for the radio controls and that works but the blue tooth does not. I do believe the radio and blue tooth are two different systems, I can still see it as a option on my phone.
Has anyone figured this out?
Has anyone figured this out?
1. If you don't have the factory Rockford Fosgate system, you'll be able to retain the factory blue tooth.
2. If you have the RF system, you will need to use the Metra Mito-2 harness that WILL NOT allow you to retain the factory blue tooth. It may work for a short while, but your after market head unit will start to malfunction.

The Mito-2 is only for connecting a aftermarket stereo to a car with sss, it has nothing to do with the blue tooth.

If your kenwood has blue tooth capabilities you will still be able to use the blue tooth through the cars speakers but it will only run through the head unit. The steering wheel controls as far as I know will not work. It sucks but I wouldn't wait, who knows if there will ever be a solution. If the controls for the steering wheel buttons tie into some part inside the factor head unit then chances are there wont be a solution. Just my 2 cents.
If you're installing all factory pieces you will be good. Its the aftermarket radios that will require a separate module for the steering wheel audio controls and kill the blue tooth steering wheel controls.
