Mysterious White Ribbon

Anyone know where on the radio the other end of this white ribbon connects to and what exactly it does?

Its easiest by disconnecting the ribbon from both.
Connect it to the headunit first, then to the hazard plate.
The connector on the headunit is on the bottom, by the 4th slit in the picture.

Its the same connector as the hazards/airbag one. Just look for it on the headunit.

So, if you have an aftermarket deck it just stays disconnected?

If you hav an aftermarket radio it will remain disconnected. However, if you go back to stock you have to reconnect it or else the buttons on the stock radio will not work.
