OEM fog light behavior

I deleted my fog lights a long time ago. So long that I don't remember when they actually used to turn on. I am considering re-using the circuit for small SPAL fans on the tranny and oil coolers. The current draw is low enough, but I cannot remember if the headlights have to be on, or only the DRLs ?

Can someone please tell me when the fog lights are powered up?

Thanks!

IDK if its the same across all years, but in my 14 MR you have to have the headlights on to activate the fogs.

I believe there was a thread on how to make the fogs independent, but its been awhile...

They can only be turned on when the headlights are on. I have mine on an independant circuit. I did this by using a relay and providing my own power to the fog lights.
