Audio Upgrade Questions

So I am new to the Evo community (long time fanboy) and just purchased a 2013 MR. My question is, the car came with the base crappy radio. Not even the Rockford system. I have a friend who has a 2010 Nav/touch screen unit and stock sub out of his touring model.

Is it an easy swap or am I going to need multiple conversion parts. He is giving me a great deal since he upgraded to all aftermarket.

You need parts. Lots of parts.

For this to work you would need -

Nav install kit (correct adaptor harnesses, gps antenna, ect.

all wiring for the factory amplifier (and you have to run the harnesses) ((this harness contains all connections. power, signal in/out, everything. it runs throughout the entire car. be prepared to strip the interior and run new wire into the doors to do this correctly))

change all standard door speakers to factory fosgate speakers (stock non-rockford wont work with factory rockford amp)

and then after all that effort you still have a pretty ****ty stereo. (my '14 MR came with rockford...its meh at best.

Just go aftermarket. Way less hassle with better end results. if you have questions, ask away.

Well that's not what I was hoping to hear. I am mainly doing it for the Bluetooth aspect. I don't need an award winning sound system. So you would pass on the OEM system?

I would for sure pass on the factory equipment.

You really dont have to spend much to get bluetooth + better sound. A lower end but still quality head unit and a set of front components will do wonders.

A lower cost head unit i like alot (and always get great results from) - http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DDX3....html?tp=20217

Great sound at a lower price point - http://www.jlaudio.com/c2-650-car-au...-systems-99617

Going with those ^ will get you much better sound and functionality than the factory system ever could. Questions?
