What is this extra wire in overhead light? Trying to hardwire dashcam
I am trying to hardwire a dashcam that will only turn on when the car is on. I took off the overhead lights and saw a bundle of wires that aren't being used. Can someone tell me what they are for? I'm assuming my ES doesn't have the optional accessory installed.
There are 3 wires ( blue, light brown/pinkish and red), I'm assuming the red is the power? Which one would be the ground? Thanks

Do you have a sunroof? If not, maybe prewiring for that? I would meter the leads to each other and see if any meter 12v with the ignition off and then on. Could be a source for the camera.
+1 on the BT Mic, I took mine apart to swap in some LED lights and that was attached to the center piece as mine has the SS package.
Edit:
Just opened up mine again and it's the same looking socket with the 3 wires red, orangish pink and blue gping into the mic. Like the other guy said if it has the right voltage coming out and if you have the right receptacle harness I'm sure it can be done since all you need is power.

Did some more search and found this diagram on the forum.
Assuming this is correct (probably so) the harness would be D-03 and seems only pink and blue are used for the mic (which is normal) thus I have no idea why the red wire is there unless the stock mic requires power for a pre-amp, which is unlikely since the entire mic housing is plastic with no grounding to the car. If the red wire indeed has power then you can always splice into that and run a grounding wire to the car but my guess is that it's a dummy wire.
