Vivid Racing Tunes the Evo X

Hello,

I have spent the better part of 2 days going over this software and seeing what works and what doesn't. I did a lot of plotting in excel and I will post up some of my other findings as soon as I am done with them so stay tuned for that.

Well let me say that Ecutek rocks. It was super easy to use and worked great. These cars really are ten times better with the a reflash.

Now onto dyno sheets.

This is from stock. Gains are huge.

This is from the when we baselined the car and after the tune. The run I am using for the final is an average. I got some other runs that netted a higher peak power and torque but I wanted to use this one as it is about the medium.

I saw Dave posted one and I wanted to follow suit. This last one is after the car would start to heat soak on the dyno. It just hated life when it was in that state but after doing close to 25 dyno runs back to back I have yet to see this again.

I am going to post some data for those of you that want to see some more tech info. Really a sweet car and a great reflash program.

Is the X sofware not capable of ECU controlled boost?

It is very capable of controlling boost. I dont think there is enough tables found to do it accuretly yet is the only thing.

Mitsubishi's boost control is similar to the 8/9's but it has some inherit similarities as a certain other car manufacturer that start with an S and ends in Ubaru.

Nice Mitch,

Great top-end, should have revved it out to the limiter and shown more peak horsepower.

Yeah like I said we could have gotten more out of it. I am curious to see your results on your dyno Razor. I have a feeling they are going to be very similar.

Great Job Mitch!!!! You always put out great numbers on the dyno with your tunes!!!
Lol thanks Brian!

DynoFlash I agree that the ecutek is an amazing product - great job !
Thanks Al man! Really a great tool and I look forward to further development with it.

We have been working on this for the past couple of days like I have said and will start taking appointments today. If you would like to come down and get tuned PM me or email me and we can get you on the dyno.

Thanks for the feedback guys,

Some quick thoughts on the ECU system on this car compared previous models:

I really like the addition of the 0-5V Hot wire MAF. There are some new ways that they determine igntion timing which I really like.

Some logs of load and boost and such.

Load is still in a percentage like before but from the factory the maps are scaled a lot further out than they were before. Also not hitting nearly as much load as an 9 would. The size of the MAF housing plays a role in that now though. MAF scaling is going to be important down the road I am sure in trying to make up for bigger intake pipes with bigger turbo's.

This is with the stock air box. You can see how the load percentage moves due to the bigger MAF housing.

Last I made a graph just to show boost:

The timing system in this car again shows some certain traits almost as a Subaru. They now have an ignition retard percent. This is a lot like Subarus and there IAM. Very funny how 2 very similar cars have similar control systems. I guess great minds do think alike.

So these cars are like the subaru in the sense that you set..

base timing.

Dynamic advance max

and Dynamic advance multiplier max.

no more just base timing. Basicly the car will tune itself.

if setup correctly.. I understand that bad basetiming patters would fubar the tune. But what i mean is the car will max the timing out on its own based on gas used.

will the flashcan show the learning tables like the AP?
