AMS’s Second EVO X tune, road race style

After having tuned our own shop car I managed to allot some time for a good customer of ours, BlackTrack on these forums, that uses his EVO X for road racing pretty much exclusively. Initially we did not have the file that we needed to tune the car, but the wizards over at ECUTeK whipped up a file for us and the very next day we were right on top of it.

The modifications that are currently installed on the car are:

AMS Upper intercooler pipe
AMS Turbo inlet/maf pipe
AMS MBC
Cat-back exhaust
FMIC

I’m still amazed at how crappy these cars run without a tune. The large dips you see in the lower HP chart are the car misfiring because it is so ridiculously rich, even with our AMS MAF pipe on it.

Boost is about 27-28 psi and dropping to 19-20 psi up top. A/F’s are in the mid 11’s, and the tune is a little conservative to meet the demands of road racing. All dyno runs are done with 100oct in the tank.

This is nuts, these cars are just making stupid power for peanuts.

Chris, I noticed that the only difference between this car and your shop car is the MBC. Is there any way to control boost via the ECU and get similar results...or is the MBC the best way to achieve the ~20hp difference seen between these two cars?

Great results btw! Can't wait to start tuning my X .

Thanks for posting this Chris! I left you a voicemail this morning, try not to laugh when you listen to me ramble on haha.

I cant stress enough how much better this car feels, I drove it around this morning before my first session and I couldn't stop laughing. It is so much better. Look at the graph, around 130 whp GAIN under the curve around 5,000-6,300rpm. The car hits so hard and just keeps pulling, I am very happy. Over 100wtq gain is so impressive from a tune, it really helps on track.

As a side note, at Gateway last weekend I was hitting 118 on the front straight, and my first session today I already hit 135! Its so much better on the track.

Thanks again Chris.

wow, very impressive Chris, even more impressive to gain 17mph on the front straight, on your first run. so we should expect to see 139-140 once you learn the car again

the difference between the shop car and this one is the mbc and the 100oct fuel
but you say it has a conservative tune for track use

Congrats on the #'s, car has to be a beast now!

How much more power can you get from 100 octane vs. a 93 octane tune?

I am not surprised. Chris knows his stuff. He pulled 90whp out of my 8. Keep it up.

Great Job on the tune. These X's impress me more and more every time I get on these forums. I cannot wait to get mine.
