It is a customer car I believe. Great numbers for just a UICP + GREAT tune!

Yeah the car is mine, I didn't dyno it before I installed the UIP so I don't know how much I gained from it. But apparently George said I gained more than his by about 10+ horses his was stock so that may be from the pipe itself.

Unfortunately George's car wasn't available at the moment. It was at the dealership.

The car is running really strong. But I already want more. I'll be back there once I remove the cat so we can turn up the boost.

It certainly is addictive when you get such easy power you want more and more

I remember when I first got my Evo 8 in 2003 - it was a lot of fun the first few stages

I would say get some larger injectors and a new pump though, that is my plan at least!
Actually the injectors are fine, mitch said in a later test that with a walbro 255 dropped in the tank that IDCs went WAYYYY down. The stock injectors should be able to support pretty big hp levels, as stock 650 cc injecors are no joke. I am hoping that there is a bosch high flow pump that will fit without having to modify the housing, because I hate walbro pumps. They're loud as hell and cheaply made. At like 150 bucks you get what you pay for, considering the stock pumps are like 3-400. I had two walbro 255 pumps fail back to back in my sti after only having been in for like 2 weeks, leaving me stranded on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. I will NEVER put a walbro in any car I own ever again. Rant over, back on topic.

I agree on the Walbro side, I definitely want a Bosch pump. Now I recall him saying that once a pump was in there that the IDC's dropped down. But if Archie wants to raise the boost to 28psi...

please excuse my ignorance and newbie post, but how does just adding an aftermarket upper intercooler pipe add power? Has it a larger diameter or improves cooling of air or something?

cheers

It adds horse power because it maintains a constant flow. The stock one starts out being a 2" pipe I believe and then it increases to 2.5". This one is 2.5" all around. Also the stock one uses rubber on some portions which would cause it to expand, mine doesn't expand so the air has no choice but to keep going into the intercooler.

AL,

Can ECUTEK fix the $hitty idle? I'm tired of it dropping to 450-500rpm all the time? Can Idle be set to 1k?

I believe you can control your idle with ECUtek.
