Thumbs up EcuTeK has rev limiter control now

Just thought you might like to know. No more hitting the rev limiter through the traps in fourth gear!

Safely is up in the air, this is only if the customer wants to raise the rev limiter. It is not recommended necessarily, but you won't get that nasty shift to 5th in the 1/4.

I'm not sure to be honest with you that is something I will discuss with Chris @ AMS who is the person that flashed my car. I would hope I can get 500rpm more out of it.

I'm going to flash mine somewhere around 7800 or maybe 7900.

On one hand, this is a perfectly square motor, and the power peaks right near the stock rev limiter when tuned. Its a bit more rewarding to rev out than a stock turboed 4G63 in that regard.

On the other hand, I need more info than the 86mm x 86mm bore and stroke to calculate the rod ratio, so I don't really want to go too far. I also don't know about the valvetrain, so I don't want to be the first one out there to hit 8000rpm.

I'd really be interested in what some of the pros think on this who have had a 4B11 apart.

Here is RPM in fourth gear graphed with MPH. This is assuming stock tire sizes:

7000 104.4
7100 105.9
7200 107.4
7300 108.8
7400 110.3
7500 111.8
7600 113.3
7700 114.8
7800 116.3
7900 117.8
8000 119.3

With 7800rpm facilitating 116mph and the fact I'm on a fully stock turbo, that should be more than sufficient. Its also only a 300rpm jump, so I think that's where I'm starting out: Conservative.

FWIW, most tuners took the 4G63 to 7800rpm safely, and I do think we can go a little higher on this engine, but I don't want to be the test mule. I'd also assume power on the stock turbo to be well on its way back down.

yes the boring and the chain will make it safer and easier to rev it higher then a 4G63.
I run in my set up 7800 rev limit and never have an issues. so i think the 4B11T will run it safely too.
I'm happy to see, finally someone start using the advantage of the 4B11 over the 4G63 in higher rpm. I truly believe this engine is capable for high rpm's and there is the real advantage for this set up.
I hope i'm right with the 4B11T.
Can you imagine a 400+ whp reliable engine with 9000+ rpm limiter?
That would be a real road race car for me

This is good to know, so that I can get the rev limiter and factory 2 step raised in the next tune.
