AMS Tunes another EVO X MR with SST transmission!

I don't remember everything about the mod list, but here is the stuff that I can remember.

AMS intake
AMS MBC
Aftermarket FMIC, I think
AEM water/meth injection kit with (50/50 meth mix)
Downpipe back, (custom?) dual exhaust.
27 psi of boost and dropping.

The chart listed for comparison is a completely stock EVO X MR SST car that was brought here from Mitsubishi corporate.

Here is a pump gas chart, for map that I whipped up real quick in ECUTeK. Could potentially make more, or could be spot on. Wasn't too worried about it since we were going to be running meth injection.

interesting, I wonder how reliable it is to run that kind of torque with the SST

These are some great results: A few bolt ons and already at 300 whp (pump gas).

Sounds like a winning combination. MY only concern is how the transmission will hold up.

Did you modify the SST field in the ECU, telling the transmission computer to adjust its clamping load for the added power?

If not, has the customer experienced any slipping in the transmission?

Thank you!

There is no 'SST field' to modify in the software currently.

We have not had any reports of slipping yet. I don't know how much and what type of driving he is currently doing though.

Chris,

Would AMS mind putting together a specific MR "mild" tune? I'd imagine the tranny could easily hold the extra hp but I'm nervous about the torque. Is there way to get those extra hp ponies with only a mild gain in torque?

Thanks!

looks like the sst dont have as much power loss through the drivetrain as I thought, my gsr put out almost the exact same numbers with basically the same setup

Since you are in Michigan, I am sure I could work something out on your car if you wanted to come down and get it tuned. Basically, we would keep the boost lower at low rpms and crank it up a little in the higher rpms. It would be an interesting project, so let me know if it is something that you would like to do.

We do not currently know. I am also unaware of another SST car that currently puts down more power or torque than this car, although I may be wrong.

Yes, actually, I compared these dyno charts to your dyno charts and they are almost exactly identical. There is a small area during peak torque at low rpms that is definitely lower than on your 5mt car. I can also hear the car/motor/transmission doing something that sounds a little off base.

No slipping is good!

If there isn't an "SST Field" then this guy must be getting sold the funky Cool-aid from his tuner . Either that or the ECU is different for SST cars in NZ.

I plan on heading to Chicago for a business trip later this month and can drive the Evo rather than flying. How much time would you need? I was waiting to get a tune after your dual exhaust with sound control comes out. Will that be ready sometime soon? I think it would be a very marketable tune for you to resale as there are plenty of us that want a little more power with our MR's but are unsure about the torque the tranny can take.

Let me know!
