AEM Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge - Is it necessary?

I know a few people have these running on their Evos, but what I'm trying to find out is it necessary to have one other than to monitor stats (if you are running rich/lean) if you already have you car tuned? I figure once its already set to best setting possible with a tune, why get one?

Mike

PS: Already got one...just wondering if I should just send it back since there is limited space for gauges in the Evo X with Navi.

Its a great idea to have one if you plan on tracking your car or heavily modifying it.

unless its a wide band setup, its a Bling gauge. not neccicary by any means.

a way to monitor knock is far superior.

a wide band is great, especialy if you can log it onto an RPM map, or into some sort of engine management.

AEM one is kinda gimmicky and the sensors die quickly. I use the PLX LED unit which is easier to read and looks much nicer. Plus I can do more than one sensor in one gauge (up to 4). Makes it less cluttered.

RRE installed a Zeitonix wide-band on my 9, and I never looked at it. I'm not buying one for my X. If you do your own mapping, and therefore need to track you AFR, you need one.If you like having one for aesthetic value, then you have a reason to get one too.
If you're like me and you pay someone else to map your car, and then go have fun with it, I don't see the need. They map it for every throttle position (including WFO), so I don't see the need for even having one for the track. Tracking is my car's #1 job, I trust the guy who mapped it, and I have yet to see a map change on it's own, so for me, it's money I can better spend on something that can actually help me. EGT gauge, temp gauge, oil pressure gauge...
