One thing that has pissed me off for a while now is the irritating "rev hang" that the stock tune seems to cause. You know, when your starting off in first and you engage the clutch, blipping the throttle, the revs take forever to come down when you let off the gas. Same thing whenever you rev with the clutch pressed in. The rpms just hover as if you're pressing the gas pedal even though you aren't touching it. The odd thing is that it only seems to do it ~2500 rpms and above, so it must be programmed to do this.
Why in the world did mitsu tune this thing to do that? Is it intentional, or a bug? Is it for emissions reasons? I've heard that that's a possibility, but no one seems to know for sure. Can a tune correct this? IIRC, I read something a while ago that said that ecutek can't control the throttle percentage at various pedal positions or the speed at which the throttle plate opens and closes, or that they didn't want to for liability reasons for some reason. What about the AP? Is there any solution to this annoying problem?

I want this gone too!!! I miss being able to down shift to slow the car down! Also not sure if this is an issue with the MR. My wife's MR doesn't seem to have the same issue hanging.
I'd be interested to hear from someone with a tune to see if it corrected the issue.

+1 on removing this!
I have this happen to me every DAY. I live on a private road (read POS unpaved) and my driveway is essentially a blind drive due to large (30 ft +) hedges. I pull into my driveway front first. So every time i go to back out i have to feather the clutch to get the car moving, then since i can't see if i'm about to back into someone walking their dog or something, i have to slow down by depressing the clutch and lifting off the gas.
When i do that my revs go from say 1200-1500 --> 2500 like i've blipped the throttle even though i haven't. Then it hangs there a few seconds. Its not damaging anything, but i sure feel like an F'ing tool thats rev'ing his engine at 6:30am when i go to work :-/

Ditto on the compression breaking too. If i'm in 4th, and clutch, blip, engage, instead of getting the expected engine breaking, it kind of coasts for a bit, then all of a sudden starts engine breaking.
Here's hoping ECUFlash provides a way to fix this.

Since I'm only moving the car up a foot or two at a time, the clutch never gets fully let out, so what happens is that I'll let the clutch out to the engagement point, blip the throttle a couple times as I let it out a bit more, but then push the clutch back in to get ready to stop again and even though I'm not on the gas anymore, the damn rpms won't drop. That's annoying.
Again, I have no idea why you are having trouble rev matching during downshifting. Maybe you're talking about what the guy above me said about it coasting for a second before the deceleration kicks in, but even then I don't really even notice it that much. Either way, we all want this gone, so what can be done? Any tuners want to comment on this? Can this be tuned out?

Unless I am missing something, I don't see why that would be a factor because no matter how rich it is, the leftover fuel will always be pumped out of the exhaust valves during the exhaust stroke. I can't say for sure, why is why I started this thread to begin with, but I think it's purposely programmed in the ecu to do this. Maybe for emissions reasons, maybe not, but the real issue to me is whether this can undone with a tune or not.

I too have noticed what you were talking about and was hoping it would go away with a tune. I don't know why the car would rev up higher and stay for emissions, that seems like it would have the opposite effect.
I don't quite know what you mean. Why do you have trouble downshifting? I can hit my rev matches and heal toes perfectly, as this has no effect on this. It's more when inching the car up in stop and go traffic or moving into a parking space that it irritates me.
