SO I talked to Cobb today and they are having me send in my AP and they will send me a new I just hope I get it before the weekend but I doubt it.

The manual does in fact warn about battery drainage (It is on page two in a box labeled "IMPORTANT!"). There is also a screen on the unit itself that you have to hit accept before proceeding with the copying of the stock map that warns of possible battery drainage, and that a charger is recommended.

I just installed mine and I disconnected only one fan, the other was running during the install, I dimmed my Navi and my gauge lighting to preserve the battery and it went through without a hitch.

There are safety parameters in place so you should be OK to just redo the process. Or it might have just been the unit itself, sometimes bugs happen in select few units.
