The other stand alone which works nice in EVO X is "KLAUS" ecu it also has LC, ALS, knock correction but it cost almoust 4500 Euro so it is quaite expensive.

We have been doing lots of EVO-X testing with the NEW MOTEC M800 & Diff ECU . Stunning features and it even runs the fans if the ecu box gets too hot !!!!!! Antilag is just plane Rude !!! The FBW is just the ticket for that as well a lauch control ,simply no driver input needed as with regular systems . We made a great tune on a stock car with just ECU . Grpn Evo's are making huge torque outputs with this ECU .

Wow...I'd like to know what true standalone is only $1300 and requires one hour of wiring!!?

I think my Motec was $2500 just in wiring, done right.

Take a look at the 08 STI drive by wire system, it will work with some creative wiring

The gems unit is a direct plug up / replacement for the stock computer. We have it running on keiths x for a while now. Its great what you can do with the throttle control, ati lag in between shifts ect. We are doing alot of feedback to gems on the drag aspect of the unit.

So far its great. As far as pricing, its about 1500 GBP .. which in today coversions is about 2000 dollars us ..

As a tuner i had to buy the dongle, and leads ect , but as an end user you would only be responsible for the box.

They also sell a sep diff controller

this seems like a nice ECU but how many tuners know how to tune with it or have the "dongles" or whatever is needed for tuning.

the price seems nice... better than I thought it would be.

The Gems units are great. When we visited Ralliart Italy last summer, that's all they were using. However, it's a little easier to get support when you're in Europe.

Here in the States, we like the support Motec gives us and Pectel is mighty fine too.

Vi-PEC is up and coming and looks to be an affordable alternative.

Are they actually planning on coming out with Vi-Pec for the evo x?

i have the GEMS ecu on my EVO 7 , and the software isn't user friendly at all... you have to create your own buttons ( template )... and zero support....
