Limp mode?

When exactly does the ECU go into limp mode? I know you can sometimes hit fuel cut with a test pipe on certain cars but I don't know if that's the same thing as limp mode. I read on a forum somewhere that you can get one or the other if you have sustained boost of >25 psi for 3 seconds or more. Is this true?

I would assume you can reset it if you disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 5 minutes.

My stock BOV is still full recirc. I know VTA makes you temporarily run rich in between shifts and can mess things up. I've haven't experienced fuel cut or limp mode yet, let's hope it stays that way. Hopefully I will be getting a tune before too long.

New wheels, TPMS question

I just put on my new wheels today and I am not running the TPMS sensors. Ive put about 30 miles on the car and I still havent had the TPMS sensor light come on the dash or anything. Its just like I still have my factory wheels on. I figured the light would have come on as soon as I got out of range of my factory wheels in the garage. Is this normal?

it takes about 100 miles for the car to recognize that the tpms are not on the wheels

Really? Thats odd.

With factory wheels. If my tire pressure gets too low, does it take 100 miles before it tells me to add some air?

I would guess they programmed it that way so that if you get a flat and have to put on the wiener spare (which does not have TPMS), you can limp 100 miles without falsely thinking you are losing air in one of the other tires.

Mine also did not show up until later.

I think the sensors must have two signals. 1 is "I have low pressure" and the other is a periodic pulse to tell the car it is there and working properly...after all, if it breaks, how would you know?

In the absence of the periodic signal, it throws a warning that something is broken, go to the dealer.

Must be on a timer because mine went off after about an hour but less miles.

Just hold down the SET and NAVI buttons to go into the service menu and turn the TPMS off if you don't want the warnings (when/if you get them that is).
