Funny Idle, Wierd Sounds when shifting

Just recently, about 3 days ago, my X MR has been idling kinda wierd. While I'm sitting at a light, the moment I let off the brake and go for the throttle, the RPMs take a dip into the 600's (terribly close to 500). I've tried it on hills, flat, manual mode and it still does it. My MR is stock except for the most recent (MRv101) Cobb Stg1 93oct map.

Also when this idle issue started to pop up, the car started shifting between 1st and 2nd kinda loudly. The shifts are semi-harsh, yet it only does it between 1-2 gear. Then yesterday, after warming the car for 3 mins, it didn't want to shift into reverse. When I set it in reverse, the gear indicator started flashing the R sign and the car wouldn't budge. I put it in Park and the back into Reverse and everything was fine like nothing happened. (crazy idle was still there thou)

All the other gears engage normally and the car runs really strong so I don't think it would be the tune. I've check my local Shell and I am running good 93oct gas. The car only has 3k miles, has not been launched, and has seen WOT about 4 times. (I'm still babying it)

Any ideas or thoughts? Anything is greatly appreciated thnx!

if you search something like "mr won't go into reverse." i think you will find the thread about this. there was tsb i am pretty sure too.....don't quote me (could just be delirium from it being monday).

update: I found this...

Quote: Flashing "R" indicator on MID - When shifting into R (reverse position), the customer may notice the R in the MID flashing, indicating an unsuccessful shift. This may be due to gear blocking. The TC-SST is an automated manual transmission and occasional gear blocking is possible. If a customer complains of this condition, advise them to shift to a different gear and then retry reverse."

you might find it helpful.

On the reverse lockout, i buy that.

It was a common issue for me on my old car (jetta 1.8t). I would have to shift into other gears prior to being able to get into reverse so often that it became a habit to shift into 1st--> 2nd--> reverse. Clutch not engaged, just rowing the gears. If i recall it was because theres was no synchro on reverse. For our trannies though, i thought reverse was a combination of 3rd and 5th? Perhaps not on the MR.

The rough idle could be your missing one of the two factory reflashes. I dont know about the loudness from 1st to 2nd though.

I would try flashing it back to stock, if it still happens bring it in to the dealer..
