Evoscan + AEM UEGO

I just ordered my AEM wideband and I'm wondering exactly how it does Evoscan log with it. Does it connect to the computer or does it somehow connect to the tactrix cable? I have not yet recieved my wideband or tactrix cable but just want to know exactly how this is accomplished. Thanks in advance guys.

Inside EvoScan you designate which model wideband you have and what com port it is tallking on. The AEM serial output worked great to my old laptop with a serial port, but if your laptop is USB only you will need a $30 Keyspan branded USB -> serial adapter for it to work right. I tried a cheapo best buy adapter and no matter what settings I tried for the com port it wouldn't get more than the first line of incoming data.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will need two of those then, one for the tactrix cable and one for the wideband.

The Tactrix 2.0 cable will use a USB port, the AEM UEGO uses a serial output to a cut up a serial cable that uses 2 wires on it. Then you plug that into a Serial port OR USB -> serial adapter on your laptop.

In the EvoScan program it combines the data from both sources into one log which is pretty slick.

I was looking at the diagrams in the instructions for the Uego and noticed it uses only one wire that connects to a ds232 female serial port. Is that right?

Do a search as there was quite a few guides hooking this up to serial cables in the Evo 8/9 forums. There is only one signal cable from the AEM UEGO and another goes to a ground wire for safety.

That and a 12v ground taken from the vehicle itself.

Also be sure to use a laptop with a serial port or get a Serial to USB adapter that will work with Evoscan. The one I'm using works great which is Keyspan USB adapter. You should search the forum for which ones will work.

I just started a bit of a thread on adapters that do/do not work.

http://www."otherforum".com/forums/showthread.php?t=16567

Also, while you're over on the "other" forum, read this thread. I have a video at the end.

Thanks for the thread! I am ready to get a wideband O2 and adaptor, fuel pump so I can start logging. Once everything works then the FPred goes in.
