I have a cosworth on its way. $58 shipped vs $15 for the OEM, but the OEM is too restrictive. I am having some backfire at low RPMs currently with the OEM filter in.

I had the MAF die while using the green HKS foam filter as well. Switched to the Ralliart one. I think it went like 11k miles or so.

Did cleaning the MAF bring it back to life or you are using it preventivatively?

Just my ****ing luck. Yesterday, WOT and I feel something cut for a split second, CEL. My engine is also revving itself to 2k rpms at complete stops.

Turns out it might be a bad MAF, son of a ***** that's crazy.

I use K&N cone fliter in place of the airbox and I have been using it problem free for about a month. Time will tell I guess. Works great and sounds sweet.

I dont normally get involved with threads, but I figured this one is important. I just had a MAF die on me, p0101 and then p0102. I know most people think its related to HKS filters and oil and so forth, but I have a cobb SF intake and it went. Basically, you are not safe unless you are a running their restrictive piece of ** paper filter. When the MAF went it was 38 degress out and I'd like to think it was related to the dense air and hard pulls in the cold weather. Anyways, these MAFs are the same as they use on basically every other mitsubishi. I highly recommend looking for them at junkyards and stock up. Who knows when the next one wil go. Oh and there is a 1% chance that your MAF is dirty and MAF cleaner will fix the issue...I tried, waste of time.

My MAF just blew about an hour ago. This is the third problem I've encountered in the past week and I'm seriously starting to doubt Mitsubishi's level of reliability. I've had my X for one year now without any problems whatsoever, but now all of a sudden everything's failing or giving me problems.

Has anyone been able to remedy the MAF failure without doing a warranty swap?

If anyone can help me out with the P0102 code, PLEASE PM me! My idling engine speed is at around 2000-2100 rpm and it's honestly making me really worried.

Keeping the X garaged for the next couple days till I swap it out for a new one.

I have a new MAF sensor/housing coming in a few days from rockauto.com for $129.
