If you have a Cobb AP please read and respond
I completely agree with everything you say, Hollywood.
I myself would like to see real time live tuning become available in ATR as well as the ability to turn off the P12xx codes. Also, the addition of two tables would allow for use of the no-lift-shift feature... "Max Speed for Stationary Rev Limit" and "Stationary Rev Limit Cross Under Max Speed Enable Delay".

I have seen alot of this as the AP for other vehicles have progressed. Subarus and Evos are very similar in the fact that you can tune your car for free but the use of the ap is great when map switching ect. Real time tuning ect.
The mazda guys got off on a bad foot with cobb a while back because coob took longer than they expected to have the Race tuner and some other stuff done. There is alot of work that goes into writing the programming they are doing. then they test it themselves make sure everything is kosher then send it to the protuners to test to give it the all clear before releasing it to the end user.
One reason is customers have other options out there. Both work well, but if 1 out of 10 customers use the ap the money isnt there to purchase the software. Any protuner can help you tune the car using the race tuner software. The great thing is that the basemaps. You get a basemap that has alot of time put into it to mod from.
As for Learning to tune Cobb Offers tuning classes, as do many other tuners. Most are very affordable, get right down to business and teach you what you need to know and you get a nice map for your car out of the classes.
I really reccomend doing one even a basic class so you understand how the ecu works ecu would really benefit an owner.
If you guys need any help shoot me a pm

I love my AP. Hands down the easiest thing to use. Plus, I got mine for under $500 shipped brand new from a very nice private sale.
Pretty pleased with my stage 1 93 w/ HKS PF map. Gas mileage increased SUBSTANTIALLY... getting around 25-27mpg on the highway as opposed to the OEM map that gave me a crappy 18mpg on the highway.
The only thing that worries me is battery life when I'm either installing/uninstalling the AP software, or changing maps.
Can we get that annoying fan disabled??

Anyone know how much battery power it takes to flash the ECU with the AP?
Completely unnecessary. It takes 30 seconds or less to flash a new map onto the ECU. Even though you never would, you could probably sit there and flash the ECU several times without killing the battery.
