That's what you get when you make power.

So you are seeing the RPM jump up, then down and catch at constant throttle?

Well the it only happens sometimes for example. The last RPM spike you are seeing was a 3rd gear pull. There was no knock and the car pulled smoothly. However, when I gave it bootfull the other two instances it showed knock in the 30's and it felt like the car fell flat on its face and did not feel like it was pulling at all. I left of the throttle and on again and it caught again and would drive normal.

I am assuming it is a clutch issue. Hopefully I can milk it til December.

the falling on it's face part is the timing getting retarded like I said in post #13

So the car feels like that because the timing is being retarded too much because of the knock counts.

But is there a known issue for this when the timing is retarded that much?

I must have jumped to conclusions... d'oh

After looking at the high and low octane tables. I noticed that the time timing gets pulled at a crossed load rating is my car staying in a low octane table and maxing out the timing?

Maybe unrelated but as someone mentioned have you checked the fuel pump relay to ensure it's going into high voltage mode? That would explain the 13+ AFR's either that or the FPR hose popped off.

The knock cause the car to fall on it's face.

Don't buy a clutch...

similar problem when i just started. car came from japan expecting 98 octane and got 91 octane. knocksum was 20 counts. car felt great at partial throttle/boost. once i hammered the sucker it felt like i was in reverse

its not ur clutch, its ur timing. take it to GST for a tune from what i am seeing you will be smiling all the way home!

you dont need a new clutch...the falling on its face, is being caused by excessing knock counts....somethings up with the tune or something else

Have you tried adding some more fuel to your tune and see if the knock goes away? Baring that, that many counts of knock and no obvious symptoms other than timing being removed as a safety precaution (and thus the car losing power)... I'd diagnose the knock sensor and see if it hasn't gone bad.

Did you do anything to increase engine vibration? Motor mounts, stiffer suspension, etc? Might lower the system's ability to dissipate vibrations, which could falsely cause the knock sensor to go off or prematurely cause it to fail.

there have been a few issues leading up to this, with the cracked intake, pre maf, the leaking fuel lines which kris found yesterday...

we were finishing up building him an OS map to try, which different latencies and scalings when he thought he found a mechanical issue.

i have never seen that sort of knock on a X, not even close, maybe 4-6 count...

i suggested he check the fuel pump relay also...

but in the meantime do NOT do any boost driving until the problem is isolated and fixed.

cheers
