AccessPORT User Survey 2010
AccessPORT User Survey 2010

At COBB Tuning we are always working to make our products perform better. We do this by improving ease of use with intuitive menus and features or increasing the performance and enjoyment of their cars with our Off the Shelf maps.
To that end, we want to know what you like about the AccessPORT. What features can you not live without? What features don’t ever get used? What would you change about the AccessPORT to make it better? This is your chance to sound off. Your input will help determine the course of future AccessPORT development.
Please respond to the survey below. Feel free to add in your own comments and criticisms. Would you like to see a feature or function added to the AccessPORT? Let us know. Now is your opportunity to tell COBB Tuning how we can make the AccessPORT better than ever.
Thank you for participating in our survey. As a company of automotive enthusiasts, we endeavor to build products that other automotive enthusiasts will appreciate and enjoy. We will be monitoring and participating in this thread so speak your mind. You can respond here or send us your responses to AccessPORT.Development@cobbtuning.com

fast map flashing without a lap top; live data display
Data logging, live data display, reflashing
often
daily
dyno, 0-60, and quarter mile time
data logging, map storage/flashing, live data display
1.The ability to log AFR with PLX and AEM afr guages.
2. ATR software 3. data logging 4. live data display 5. code reading resetting
The ability to display negative fuel trims
They are good and I use them, well, at least part of them. The good is that the timing and fuel maps are conservative enough to be safe, but still make power. However the airflow and load limits are set to low on the stage 2 maps to prevent codes without modding them if you have an exhaust that actually breathes. They would be better if they had K&N filter Mas scalling, both panel and cone clamped to the mas (both open and closed end cone, seriously you can buy these filters EVERYWHERE but you STILL dont have a map for them)
Stage 2 93 octane (if I couldnt get 93, I'd use 91). I used to use the HKS panel filter map, but now I have to run my own map because you don't have a K&N mas scaling, DW1000cc injector scaling, inline walbro injector trims/latencies, or 3 port duty cycle tables. I still use your timing map though. I guess I'd add maps that address my comments to the last two questionsl

OK, constructive criticism:
Clean up, simplify and clarify the map instructions on your website. There is no way a OTS E85 map makes the same power as a 93 Oct map, for example.
You need more elaborate, detailed and clear guidance on when to remove or leave the boost pill.
Make OTS maps or remove the ambiguity on when a it's OK or not OK to mix and match various combinations of exhausts with cat / no-cat / hiflow cat, catback, downpipe etc.
When can we expect a Stage 3 and what will it consist of?

1. What is your favorite AccessPORT Feature?
The ability to download your off the shelf maps and switch them without a laptop.
2. What AccessPORT features do you use on a regular basis?
Switching maps.
3. How often do you use your AccessPORT to change maps?
At most once per month or right before going into the dealership.
4. How often do you use your AccessPORT to data log?
Rarely, just looked at the knock retard a few times when I first got it.
5. What are some of the features you never use on your AccessPORT?
Shift light, dyno, 0-60, 1/4 mile.
6. What are the AccessPORT features you cannot live without?
Free OTS Maps, map storage, simple use, and ability to uninstall.
7. If your AccessPORT only had 5 features, what would they be in order of importance?
Map storage, map switching, error code reading, error code resetting, and live data.
8. What features would you add to the AccessPORT?
TCU maps for the MR.
9. What is your opinion of COBB Tuning’s Off the Shelf (OTS) Maps? Do you use them? If so why? If not why not?
Ran the stage 1 and it's decent, but currently using Perrin's Stage 1 OTS since it's a little more aggressive. I would like to get a custom Cobb tune, but it's hard to find reliable Cobb AP tuners in Canada. Might make the trip down to Portland in the summer though!
10. What maps do you use most often? What maps do you never use? Which maps would you add?
If I'm not using Perrin stage 1, I'm using the Cobb Stage 1 93 Octane HKS panel filter + catback only most often. If there's nothing else, eventually I might run the stage 2 93 Octane, but I would definately run a stage 3 if it ever comes out for the MR!
I would like to see more aggressive OTS maps since they're all listed to give the same amount of power regardless of the mods. I agree with kizmic27 that K&N drop in / cone filters should be added as they're so common.

9. What is your opinion of COBB Tuning’s Off the Shelf (OTS) Maps? Do you use them? If so why? If not why not?
I am using Stage 1 AMS intake 93 Octane and stocked map. The COBB maps are amazing and universal for all the EVO. However a protune is definitely better than the OTS map. You can always switch between maps and enjoy the benefit from each map while you are on the road.
10. What maps do you use most often? What maps do you never use? Which maps would you add?
AMS FTW. I look forward to stage 2 93 Octane or any future update maps from COBB. Specially those that would beat PERRIN paid maps.

0-60
Dyno
1/4 Mile
6. What are the AccessPORT features you cannot live without?
Switch map, data logging, pulling codes, clearing codes
7. If your AccessPORT only had 5 features, what would they be in order of importance?

8. What features would you add to the AccessPORT?
1) Scrolling map names (I can only see X characters of the beginning right now).
2) LTFT to display live! (For me with the latest FW it always displays 0, but will log correct value)
3) Live data does not 'clear' when you switch to logging, and from logging.
4) 'Buffer' log - log in the background anyway just in case I suddenly see some knock, I can enable logging.
5) Warnings - Flash when knock detected for example.
6) STAMP WITH THE ACTUAL LOG FILES DATE/TIME, ADD A DANG BATTERY!
A) Not a feature, but a harness to mount the AP to the left side air vent would be a life saver.

The ability to tune it ourselves. Locking us out and only giving access to a licensed Cobb tuner kinda defeats the purpose of buying it. It ends up being a $700 scanner that can add/remove pre-installed maps and delete check engine codes.

I travel very often so I change maps between 91 and 93 oct versions all the time.
4. How often do you use your AccessPORT to data log?
Never.
5. What are some of the features you never use on your AccessPORT?
I don't really datalog. I view the data live every now and again, but I don't know anything about tuning so dataloging
Also the 0-60 time, dyno, 1/4 mile time. I have tried using all these features and it just doesn't seam smooth enough to use.
6. What are the AccessPORT features you cannot live without?
Switching maps easy.
7. If your AccessPORT only had 5 features, what would they be in order of importance?
1.Multiple maps to switch with easily.
2.Boost Guage
3.knock count
4.Intake temp
5.Pull Codes
8. What features would you add to the AccessPORT?
SST features. If I could be able to mess with my SST modes and other things like launch mode, ect; it would make the AccessPort #1 for MR/Ralliart owners.
9. What is your opinion of COBB Tuning’s Off the Shelf (OTS) Maps? Do you use them? If so why? If not why not?
As a person with small knowledge of modding and none what so ever on tuning, they are heavenly. I travel a lot and having the same map for both 91 and 93 oct is great.
10. What maps do you use most often? What maps do you never use? Which maps would you add?
HKS stage 1 91 and 93 oct maps are the most used. Never used the economy or valet maps.

Datalogging
live data

8. What features would you add to the AccessPORT?
Tunability, tunability, tunablity. This being for my GTR AP so I can tune this thing it REALLY needs it. I use open source for my EVO X for this precise reason.
9. What is your opinion of COBB Tuning’s Off the Shelf (OTS) Maps? Do you use them? If so why? If not why not?
Stage 1 map is pretty decent but beyond that they get pretty aweful. I was getting boost cut constantly on stage 2 and with the revised map now it's just pulling timing ALL the time.
10. What maps do you use most often? What maps do you never use? Which maps would you add?
Stage 2 93 octane but thinking of going to 91 octane map to cure the detonation levels.

The ability to tune it ourselves. Locking us out and only giving access to a licensed Cobb tuner kinda defeats the purpose of buying it. It ends up being a $700 scanner that can add/remove pre-installed maps and delete check engine codes.
