You must install AP to your car to able to use futures on the AP.
Cobb AP won't avoid your warranty because you can simply uninstall it and no one would find out, The most reason i got AP because of my mods, It used to run weird. Now i need to add downpipe and tune to stage 2 till reach my goals
If i had my car as now, My first mode would be AP for sure

Even without any other parts, the AP will make a pretty big difference in the car. Stage I vs the stock map, you'll be up 40whp/tq easy, likely a good bit more.

A tune is the best bang for the buck mod on an otherwise stock Evo.

40 whp??? The maps for stage 1 on their website claim ~20. I've got a 2010 model if that makes a difference. I was wondering if mine has the latest mitsu maps that fix the idle issue, mpg and sputtering that another topic mentioned. Mine does idle a bit rough but didn't know if it was from the cold weather.

But you CAN get a custom tune with the AP with another purchase option?

Yeah I just got my car last week and I did the same, totally worth the money. It also has a MAP for installed stock map so you can leave the AP installed and take it into the dealer and they wouldnt know.

The numbers on Cobbs websites are estimates based on % not numbers they dyno with 91 octane and at a much higher sea level so it is not far fetched.

Yes you would need to find a certified Cobb Pro Tuner and they can create custom maps for you. They don't need to be local either they can do E-tuning as well, not the best but if your location is far from anyone good it is better than nothing.

The bad idle, sputtering, etc. is from early 2008 models, not 2010.

Cobb stage 1 is 18% whp increase on 91 octane. So figure the Evo makes roughly 240whp, you're looking at 43.2 extra whp with just the stage 1.

Stage 2 says 24% hp increase so that is an extra 58whp.

You will save and protect your engine in track by tuning it? So what do you want to save for? (Specific)

i want to tune it for more power and run smoother, but i have a problem that im short of money. if i tune my car now, then i won't have money for next 2 track days(2 track days = about $600), and im new to tracking so im very excited about going.
so im thinking in between 2 track days or a tune first.

How does the stage 1 affect mpg? Do any vendors run the AP on a group buy?

AP just dropped 100 dollars MSRP so now is the time to buy,

Stage 1 isn't bad on MPG, especially since it leans out the tune a bit compared to stock, though if you romp on it all the time that will obviously not help..
