Detonating with exhaust?

I had just installed an ETS TBE yesterday. On the way back from the shop, I boosted up a few times and noticed it detonating. At WOT Im reading 12.7 AFRs. Is this common? I can also feel the car pulling timing.

Mods:
ETS DP
ETS TP (catless)
ETS catback

AEM boost guage
AEM UEGO
AEM volt meter

Is your car tuned for the new mods or did the shop just install the exhaust? When I installed my exhaust w/o the cat on my civic my AFR actually got leaner and I had to add fuel not sure if the Evo is the same way.

Definitely need to get the car tuned. As the above poster stated, with increased air flow, the car is going to run leaner.

I just had the TBE installed. Im going for a tuned next week. Im just surprised that its running that sh**ty. I cant even get on it with out risk of knocking. So I have to drive around like an old lady until I get tuned.

Yeah, 12.7 is way lean for WOT. I'm pretty amazed that you could be that lean from just an exhaust install though if you are on the stock map.

Have you checked your fuel pump relay?

No I havent checked the relay. My car was running fine prior to the TBE install. Could my relay have gone bad?

Yes, replace the relay...it's cheap insurance.

Does anyone have a link with a pic to show "where exactly" is this relay?

There's a thread on here that shows a picture of exactly where the relay is. I can't seem to find it, now but I'll look for it when I get home.

And regards to detonation, how can you tell that you are detonating? I'm running a full TBE, and intake with my stock map right now as well. I wanna see if my car is detonating or not.

1. No worries, I found the diagram/thread on the FP relay on evoXforums. I did their high beam test and my FP relay is still good.

2. Knock sounds like a lug nut rattling in a metal coffee can. (think about the sound it makes when you shake it fast). You will also feel a harsh hesitation while detonating/knocking.

2010 so lean spool is enabled.

that in combination with a large shift in fuel trim could just put you at 12.7:1

be interested to see a log including fuel trims

I'd love to post logs, but I dont have a clue on how to do so. If you PM me the process, I'll give you all the logs you want.
