EvoScan sub-forum?
EvoScan sub-forum?
Hi guys, maybe I'm blind and it's already here, but what do you think about having a specific EvoScan thread (like the EcuFlash one)? In this way we could post problems, suggestions, requests of help about EvoScan, so it's also easier for Hamish and the other guys if they have all in the same place (now instead you find something in the EcuFlash thread, something in the mode23, something in the Evo X Logging).
In any case, I've just started to use EvoScan v2.7 0046 beta and I have some questions for you (Hamish in particular; by the way, thanks for the superquick ticket answer about download link). I use mode23 for 2008 EVO X USA.
1) Should I log all the 3 LOADS?
2) In Map Tracer, at the moment there's only the possibility of trace Fuel and Timing map? Not MIVEC, WGDC, etc?
3) In some threads I was reading someone that suggested, to improve logging speed when using mode23, to be sure "not to log any other standard CAN values": what does it mean? If I select mode23, I suppose that no standard CAN parameters are logged, right?
4) I connected a LC-1 WB and it seems to log correctly; in any case, is there some settings to modify about ext WB?
5) The metric units setting does not work for mode23; it will be ok in final v2.7?
6) In the graph window, it does not show the values when I point the mouse on one line (it was ok in v2.7 beta5).
7) Could we have a fully customizable axis scales? For exaple it would be great to have the possibility of adding the second Y axis scale (as in Excel).
8) About Power/Torque, is it possible (when they are calculated) to add them in the log file? In this way, they are already there if we have to open fhe log file with Excel. I know it's a simple calculation (based on speed/acceleration/inertia) so we could re-calculate it in Excel, but it would be great to have it already "logged".
9) I cannot find the "Disable multi-threading" in the logging menu: is it disabled by default?
TIA for your answers/suggestions, forgive me if some of them are stupid. By the way, this product is awesome and really worth the 25$
Ok, I go on the road to log some 3rd gear WOT pulls (today it's holiday in Italy - Republic Day). I will post the results in the Evo X Logging thread.
Ciao

Not much of a user base, but sign up if you want it to grow.
Sorry I don't have enough experience to help you with the rest of the questions.

The reason given was that the forum was not popular enough yet. I personally think it makes for a future thread management nightmare, but I'm not in charge.
1) Should I log all the 3 LOADS?
---If you are tuning all 3 corresponding items. Generally the less items logged the better (more resolution) and you should only be making one change at a time.
2) In Map Tracer, at the moment there's only the possibility of trace Fuel and Timing map? Not MIVEC, WGDC, etc?
---I think so. MIVEC *Might* be possible, but wgdc is not
3) In some threads I was reading someone that suggested, to improve logging speed when using mode23, to be sure "not to log any other standard CAN values": what does it mean? If I select mode23, I suppose that no standard CAN parameters are logged, right?
----Not sure the context here, can't help with this one. Maybe they just meant log less items?
4) I connected a LC-1 WB and it seems to log correctly; in any case, is there some settings to modify about ext WB?
---sure, check the wideband menu or logworks
5) The metric units setting does not work for mode23; it will be ok in final v2.7?
---only Hamish can answer this. I'm not sure what the problem is but you are probably better off fixing it yourself. Is it just missing the formulas in the xml?
6) In the graph window, it does not show the values when I point the mouse on one line (it was ok in v2.7 beta5).
--still works for me
7) Could we have a fully customizable axis scales? For exaple it would be great to have the possibility of adding the second Y axis scale (as in Excel)
--The second item selected in your data list should show it's scale on the right. It might be best to move your wideband toward the top.
8) About Power/Torque, is it possible (when they are calculated) to add them in the log file? In this way, they are already there if we have to open fhe log file with Excel. --unlikely, but you should check out the VDR thread in the ecuflash sub forum
9) I cannot find the "Disable multi-threading" in the logging menu: is it disabled by default?
--its about halfway down ~13th item.
Thanks for your answer.
But, are you sure you are using v2.7 0046 beta? Because, in this version I cannot find the "multi-threading" option (I have it in v2.7 beta5): see image below.

The same for graph value indication when you point the mouse: for me it does not work with v27 0046, it was ok with v2.7 beta5. And, even if I select 2 items it uses only one scale: sometimes it splits the graph in 2 parts if the values are much different, but I've never seen the scale on the right.
WB settings: ok I can select the COM port, WB type, etc but for the rest EvoScan already recognizes correctly the signal from the WB on the serial port? There's not any option to change it, and even with logworks you can only change the analog output, that is not used here.
About EcuFlash, sorry I wrote "sub-forum" but at the end I mean "specific thread".
Thanks again for your help!
Bye
Stefano

5) If you right click on a value and go to Edit Item, you will see the settings for each selected value on the right.
If "Metric Eval" is empty, then you need to have an equation for metric in there for metric to work.
Oh, and looking at that screen shot... toward the bottom of the "Logging" box, you will see a check mark next to "Imperial Units". You need to select "Metric Units". (I would probably do this first.

In any case, I will follow your advice and manually modify the equations if I need.
Thanks.
