Do I need a replacement 02 front 02 sensor?
The front and rear o2 sensors are different part numbers. Not the same. Im also having the problem with my front o2 and its making my car run like ****, hesitation, 1st gear wants to stall moving out of a stop, gas mileage downhill. I just ordered a new o2.

I found a few sites that talk about cleaning the o2 and i'm going to try it out. There's several methods... one is to soak the end of the o2 sensor in gasoline for 2 days or so, swishing gas around once every few hours. I have had it soaking for about 5 or 6 hours, and the bottom on the cup I am using there are small pieces of carbon built up. I am doing this because I have switched SOOOOOOOOOOOO many maps so often that I really think there's some bad carbon build up on the sensor. These things are supposed to last a lot longer than 15k miles. I will be interested to see how much junk comes out of this thing in another 24-36 hours.
You can get a generic 4-wire o2 sensor like that (preferably Bosch brand) at your local auto store too. I "think" it should work, but it require you to cut and solder your stock o2 sensor wires. Someone should confirm whether it will work for sure. However, if your problem is not in the actual o2 sensor (but in the wiring), then you may still have the same problem.
Currently still soaking the 02 in gasoline... i'm doing it like so...

swishing it around and VERY lightly tapping it on the bottom of the plastic over about 20 hours has yielded this amount of carbon....

There's A LOT of very small particles that you cannot see in this pic, but getting rid of those large pieces has to help if the sensor isn't totally shot already.... we'll see. I'm debating on putting it back in today, or letting it soak another day and see what else I get.

by the way, I know to some this may seem silly and I could just buy a pretty cheap replacement, but #1, some of these thing should last 50,000-100,000k (don't know how likely that is). #2 I drive the car so easy that I can see how a lot of carbon would build up #3 between flashing Cobb maps on the car, getting pro tuned, then back to cobb maps, then trying 3 port maps, along with the ULTRA rich setting from the factory.... building a house really puts a bit of a strain on your finances.

that sucks man, sorry to hear that... but unfortunately as they say, "you gotta pay to play" and a GTR is high tech, they know it, and they use that to their advantage, whereas because more people can afford an Evo, the prices can only be so high because the market is sooooooooooo vast for them... especially for the VIII's and IX's... the X's will follow, but it might take another year or two to see prices come down more on parts and such.
